Student Support Services

Rivermount College strives to provide an environment that is supportive and nurturing to cater for the needs of our diverse student population.  We have developed a support services team to address these needs.  Our Head of Support Services leads this team which consists of our Learning Support Teachers and Aides, our School Counsellors, our Indigenous Liaison Officer and our School Nurse.

Learning Support

Our learning support teachers and aides promote an environment supportive of learning at many different levels.  We aim to cater for the needs of the individual to structure and scaffold learning experiences to give the ‘just right’ balance of support and challenges.  Staff are involved in continual professional development to ensure currency of knowledge and skills.

Therapy Support

Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Pathology and Psychology services are available and can be organised as needed with external services visiting our campus.  These services liaise closely with our teaching and support staff to promote fluid and cohesive support for our students.

Counselling

Our school counselling team spans across the Primary and Secondary schools and offers counselling to students on both an as-needs and ongoing basis as required. They also offer mediation and support in times of need and run group sessions where appropriate.

Our support staff are also involved in ongoing education programs that include topics such as cyber-safety, anti-bullying, education on health and development, self-esteem, and managing stress and anxiety.
